Frankstown Branch Juniata River Lower Section and Canoe Creek

General Description

The Frankstown Branch of the Juniata River meets the Little Juniata to form the Juniata River. The Lower Trail runs parallel to the river for approximately 17 miles and provides easy access to the stream.

Boaters can find suitable water upstream of Canoe Creek State Park. A Water Trail begins at Canoe Creek and is frequently used by local paddlers. The river features easy paddling water with only a few areas of fast water.

The river is a favorite of anglers who cast for the abundant trout, base, pike, muskellunge, panfish, catfish and crappie that populate its waters.
