Named for the fort where George Washington spent a tour of duty helping to protect settlers from the dangers of the wilderness around them, the Bedford/Breezewood Region has grown from a place of farming and iron production, into a premier outdoor destination. Today, its rivers, lakes, trails and roadways are favored by skiers, boaters, hikers, bikers, fishermen and paddling enthusiasts in every season. While its historic towns and unique shops provide a relaxing getaway from the challenges of adventure.

A challenging tour of almost 40 miles including two covered bridges.

Bedford Springs Easy
This 21.8 mile out-and-back tour begins and ends at the historic Bedford Springs Resort.

Bedford Springs Moderate
Pedal from the luxurious Bedford Springs Resort over rolling hills past the Bedford Springs Old Course and the Gold Medal Waters of Shobers Run as you explore the landscape on this 41.5-mile loop.

Covered Bridge Scenic Tour
Rural residential areas, farmlands, and several covered bridges are features of this moderate, 16.4 mile tour.

Mann's Choice Challenge Tour
A shorter tour of 15.7 miles takes you thru the towns of Buffalo Mills and Sulphur Springs.

Nine Mile Historic Town Tour
A moderate tour of only 7.7 miles more suitable for mountain bikes due to road types.

Pioneer Run Tour

Blue Knob State Park
Varying terrain offering a choice of great riding from easy to difficult with plenty of single and double track.

Buchanan State Forest-Martin Hill
Variable, but mostly hilly terrain with mainly double track trails of intermediate difficulty. Some trails are shared with ATV’s.

Buchanan State Forest-Sideling Hill
Choose from several hilly trails varying greatly in technical difficulty with abundant double tracks. Good, hard rides abound on Old Turnpike trails, though Snow Field Trail should not be ridden up hill.

Shawnee State Park
An easy ride for all ages with mostly flat or rolling trails; it's close to a great picnic spot for family fun.

Bedford Town Trek

Raystown Branch Juniata River Section 1
Section 1 of the Raystown Branch of the Juniata, in the Bedford/Breezewood Destination Area, can be explored by canoe year-round, though it is best traveled from March through July, when It is a Class I river, easily navigated with minimal skills making it ideal for the beginner to intermediate canoer or kayaker.

Shawnee Lake
Shawnee State Park in the Bedford/Breezewood Destination Area is home to the 451-acre Shawnee Lake with three boat launch areas and 183 boat mooring spaces. A boat dock is ADA accessible.

Wills Creek and tributary
Wills Creek is a swift, rocky stream in the Bedford/Breezewood Destination Area that attracts whitewater enthusiasts when water levels are high. The Fairhope to Hyndman section provides 3.5 miles of Class III-IV (V) whitewater suitable for experienced paddlers only.
